The Slavonic Literary World: Contexts and Confrontations I is the first international scientific conference for doctoral students organized by Department of Slavonic Studies at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University.
The target group for the proposed project is represented by doctoral students who are in their research focused on a wide area of Slavonic literatures. We would like to welcome not only students from Slavonic countries, but also researchers from all over Europe and the world.
Intentionally and widely conceived main theme of the conference provides a space for presentation of works in a variety of literary disciplines dealing with Slavonic literary problems. For active participants of the conference, it enables the presentation of their latest research without any restrictions and initiation of beneficial scholarly interdisciplinary discourse in the context of wider participating community, so the participants might get high-quality professional feedback.
Our intention is not to focus only on closely specified problems, but create an effective platform for solving more complex literary problems. As we expect and hope, it will be viewed on these problems from a multidisciplinary perspective, in the context of the Europe-wide
(Slavonic-wide) literary criticism, its schools, trends, and currents.
Therefore we do not search only for well-known loci communes to find some sameness, but we would like to pay attention to issues arousing controversy, or perhaps to less researched spheres that could wake up more intensive response not only at the conference itself, but also outside it, in mutual discussions, and possible common projects.
